The formula behind Ads, Design, Copy, Sales

I told you it was simple...

If you're wondering why you have been learning so much about Shopify and marketing yet, the sales aren't coming in. This will solve it.

On the journey to sales, it's easy to get overwhelmed by all the options.

Almost all of these options we don't need.

But Flo... how should I know what I DO need?

To find out, we have to talk about how and why people buy.

Once we have that answer, everything else just falls into place.

Why do people buy anything?

Hint... It's not because they need more stuff at home.

It's because they are experiencing a problem and want the solution.

Here are some examples:

Why would I buy:

  • A phone case - Because I just got a new phone and I want to keep it like a new

  • A new shirt - Because I want to change my style, look good at work, impress my date, ...

  • Skincare - Because I want to fix my skin conditions (not to buy a cream)

Even though we would tell someone, we need a new shirt. We don't tell them the reason why.

As sellers, our goal is to identify the reason why and simply call it out.

The people will identify with it and buy our products.

The more specific we get, the easier it will be to get sales.

We can't just tell people "buy my product", because the person themselves will form the decision to buy or not buy.

But...

If we identify the reason why they are looking for a product like ours and call it out, the person will come to us.

This example will tie it all together:

The company PupRing sells engraved jewelry for pet owners.

If they were to say "we sell necklaces" then all of a sudden they are now competing with Tiffany's and every other jewelry brand out there.

What they do differently, is they understand WHY people would want to engrave the faces of their pets onto jewelry.

People want to either be close to their pet during the day or remember their pet that recently passed away.

They understand their customer's:

  • CURRENT SITUATION - Sad about a pet that recently died

  • DESIRED SITUATION - Don't want to be sad and instead want to remember their pet

This is their best-performing ad.

How do we use that knowledge in our business?

On your store:

  • call out why people would buy your products "To keep family close".

  • Feature reviews that prove the desired situation "I was sad, because dog died, now I'm happy and will always remember dog."

In your ads:
Feature the same desired situation.

That's honestly it.

You don't even have to be perfect at this to start.

The more data we get, the closer you will get to the perfect messaging.

Just this one change will put you into the category of "profitable stores".
