The reason why Shopify feels hard
Shopify is like knowing the difference between a 🥒 and a 🧁. Trust me on this one...

There are a million decisions we can make when selling online. But 99% of them don’t matter.
Learning this principle I share in this email made me go from “I will never learn Shopify” to “How can anyone not get it”.
I’m going to use the analogy of losing weight.
If you’re overwhelmed and don’t know what to work on to get more sales, this is the problem…
Imagine you’re trying to lose weight without knowing anything about calories and nutrients.
Without these guiding principles, nothing distinguishes a cucumber from a tiramisu. Except one tastes much better.
You could now hire a coach and ask him every time you want to eat something whether you should eat it and how much.
He’s going to get annoyed very quickly and will teach you about calories and nutrients.
Once you understand the rules that make you lose weight you can make your own decisions and get to the result.
Selling online is very similar.
I often hear people complain about how Shopify misled them.
They thought all they had to do was click a few buttons, launch a store, and that’s it.
But Shopify is actually not what’s making us sales.
It’s just a tool we use for processing.
To stick with the food analogy...
It’s like our trainer giving us a pan.
While a pan is useful to lose weight. It’s about what we cook in it.
And it’s not the only way to cook. We can use the oven, the air fryer, …, and still lose weight.
The same goes with Shopify. Once you understand the principles you can replace it with WooCommerce, eBay, Etsy, … any platform that allows you to sell products.
Shopify just happens to be the best.
What makes or breaks our business is what we do with Shopify.
That’s why I love it when people tell me they run a Shopify store for a living.
It doesn’t mean anything.
It’s like a chef saying he uses pans for a living.
How do you know whether you understand the principles?
If you are still looking for the answers to at least one of the questions, you haven’t learned the principles:
What theme should I use?
What is the best app for X?
Should I add a discount?
Do I need free shipping?
Why is no one buying?
Why is no one visiting my store?
Why is no one clicking my ads?
How can I increase my conversions?
…
These are great questions but not relevant until you have at least 1,000 orders.
It’s like asking your coach about the electrolyte content of a cucumber while you’re eating tiramisu.
Great question for an Olympic athlete but ridiculous when you’re 100 lbs overweight.
You can pick the wrong answer to all of the questions above and still get to 1,000 orders by following the principles.
So stop trying to answer the micro questions, and start learning the principles that make strangers buy.
If you want to learn more about the principles, reply with “YES” and I’m going to create a training around this.
Happy selling,
Flo
P.S. We helped a member make $2,552 over the weekend while she spent time with her family. She tried to solve ads for months. It took us minutes.
It’s all in the principles.
