Traffic without sales? Do this!
Avoid these mistakes when running ads.
After speaking to hundreds of small brands, one of their top complaints is getting traffic without sales.
At least 90% made two major mistakes that we fixed in less than 2 minutes.
This trick only applies to running paid ads (Meta, Google, Pinterest, …).
If you having the same issue, here’s what to do:
Make sure your campaign goal is set to “Sales”
Whenever you create a new campaign, select the “Sales” objective.
All too often, I see people use “Awareness” or “Traffic”.
It’s an easy mistake to make. Because we need traffic to make a sale.
But not all traffic is created equal.
A cheap click does not necessarily make a cheap purchase.
And since we’re measuring sales and not clicks, changing the objective will allow Meta (or any other major ads platform) to serve our ads to more people who are more likely to purchase.

Send the traffic directly to a product or collection page.
Newcomers to advertising often send all their traffic to their homepage.
I understand the thinking. From the homepage, people can find the products they’re interested in and make checkout.
In reality, people don’t want to explore.
They clicked on the ad because they liked the product.
If they don’t immediately land on this product’s page, they will very likely close the tab and continue with their day.
Monitor your visitor’s actions.
Did you know you can watch screen recordings of your visitors? You can see what they read, where they click, and how far they scroll.
This data allows us to constantly optimize our pages and remove friction whenever we spot it.
You can do this with HotJar. They have a great free tier and allow you to watch recordings and even see heatmaps of what elements your visitors are clicking.
This is our go-to tool (see screenshot below).
